Fishing

At the Edge of World-Class Sportfishing

Trophy Bay is the first private-ownership marina community on the Gulf of Chiriqui. From private slips, owners are within a morning’s run to three of the most distinguished grounds in the Eastern Pacific lie within a single day's range:

The Fishing Grounds

Hannibal Bank

A remote Pacific seamount charted by the USS Hannibal in 1908, rising from several thousand feet to within 120 feet of the surface. Its nutrient-rich upwelling supports blue and black marlin, sailfish, and yellowfin tuna year-round.

Isla Montuosa

The furthest island from off Panama’s Pacific coast, undeveloped and quiet. Steep undersea pinnacles make it one of the region's premier grounds for black and blue marlin, trophy yellowfin, and dorado.

Coiba and the Coastal Islands

Its rocky points, the Islas Ladrones archipelago, and the surrounding Gulf coastline are widely regarded as some of Central America’s premier grounds for roosterfish and cubera snapper.

Provenance

Pacific Panama is among the most celebrated big-game fisheries in the world. The grounds fished from Trophy Bay, Hannibal Bank, Isla Montuosa, and the waters around Coiba, have long been profiled in Marlin, Salt Water Sportsman, and Anglers Journal.

The Season

The Season

The Gulf of Chiriquí offers year-round fishing, with each season bringing different opportunities across offshore and inshore waters.

Dry Season | December – April

Peak billfish season, defined by calmer seas and clearer blue water.

Blue and black marlin, sailfish, and wahoo are at their strongest during these months, particularly across Hannibal Bank and the surrounding offshore grounds.

Green Season | May – November

A shift toward trophy tuna and highly productive inshore fishing.

Yellowfin tuna — including fish exceeding 200 pounds — are most commonly seen from late spring into early summer, while roosterfish, cubera snapper, and dorado remain strong throughout the green season.

A World-Class
Private Marina

A full-service marina featuring approximately 60 slips for vessels from 45 to 160 feet, designed to balance functionality, comfort, and life on the water. With dedicated facilities for owners, captains, and crew, the marina offers immediate access to the legendary fishing grounds of Hannibal Bank, Coiba Island, Montuosa, and the Gulf of Chiriquí.
